Before beginning
- Ensure the prayer time has started.
- Make wudu and wear clean, suitable clothing.
- Face the Qibla and form the intention in your heart.
- Pray in a clean and safe place.
Basic sequence of one rak‘ah
- Begin with the opening takbir: Allahu Akbar.
- Stand and recite Surah Al-Fatiha, followed by Quran where applicable.
- Bow in ruku with calmness.
- Rise and stand upright.
- Prostrate in sujud.
- Sit briefly between the two prostrations.
- Perform the second sujud, then rise for the next rak‘ah or sit as required.
Completing the prayer
In the final sitting, recite the tashahhud and the prescribed blessings and supplications, then finish with salam to the right and left.
