How Qurbani should be arranged
- Make the intention. Qurbani is an act of worship carried out sincerely for Allah.
- Choose a suitable animal. It should meet the recognised age and health requirements and be treated well.
- Use a competent, lawful slaughter service. The sacrifice should be carried out humanely, by a trained person, in accordance with Islamic requirements and local animal-welfare law.
- Observe the correct time. The sacrifice is performed after the Eid prayer during the recognised Qurbani period.
- Distribute the meat generously. Families may keep a portion while sharing with relatives, neighbours and people in need.
